The study examines the assessment of traditional values by residents of the southern regions of Kazakhstan, as well as the study of changes in these values, the problems of public life and social tensions related to cultural values, and the identification of stable understandings of these values.
The interaction between traditional and innovative value systems in the southern regions of Kazakhstan is analyzed through an axiological lens, and cultural changes in society in the context of globalization and technological advancement are seen not as a destruction of culture, but rather as an adaptation of the value system to meet the demands of the modern era.
Interdisciplinary research methods were used in this study. In addition to theoretical analysis, empirical data was collected through a large-scale online survey and qualitative focus group interviews, which allowed for an objective assessment of society’s stable understandings of traditional values.
The results of the study indicate that, although traditional values have undergone significant changes in the southern regions of Kazakhstan, they continue to be one of the main pillars of social stability. While some artificial or emerging traditions may be recognized as unnecessary by society, fundamental traditional values are highly valued as a key component in preserving national identity.
A balanced approach to the development of modern Kazakhstan requires a model that preserves the country’s cultural heritage while incorporating modern innovations. This research contributes to a better understanding of how traditional values adapt to society and shape social institutions.
