Abstract

The article discusses approaches to the conceptualization of happiness and discusses the problem of focusing the goals of modernization and progress of society on subjective well-being. Special attention is paid to the analysis of theoretical ideas and practical recommendations for modern social policy proposed by the concepts of happiness. The methodological and methodological aspects of measuring happiness by means of index and survey assessments, which can serve as sources of happiness analysis in the national and cross-country perspective are described. The relationship between the level of happiness and various social indicators is shown on the example of Kazakhstan using information from the World Database of Happiness, as well as data from mass surveys of 2021-2022 conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan andInstitute for Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the CS MSHE RK. The significance of happiness research in Kazakhstan from the point of view of the modernization development of the country is substantiated.
