Abstract

Young people are the guarantee of the state, a large age group, and at the same time the object and subject of economic, scientific, social, political, cultural and spiritual development of the whole society. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that they constitute the majority of the population in terms of numbers, and on the other hand, it is due to the qualities of young people - ambitious, creative, flexible, mobile, creative, innovative. Today, religious values and beliefs in society have an important impact on the spiritual development of Kazakh youth. Since the number of young people turning to religion in society is increasing, the issue of religion, including the issue of religious literacy, has become one of the pressing issues. This scientific article was written to study the emergence of Islam among modern Kazakh youth, especially on the example of students of Narxoz University. The main objective of the work is to determine the level of religious literacy of young people, analyze their life positions and attitudes towards Islam, and find out its place in modern society. The study examines the level of students’ knowledge about Islam, their religious experience, their attitude towards worship and the influence of religion on their lives. The research methods used were survey, descriptive analysis, content analysis, comparative analysis methods, as well as empirical and structural-functional analysis methods. The results of the survey conducted among students of Narxoz University provide information on how young people understand Islam and what role it plays in their lives. The article also discusses the growth of religious literacy among young people and how this affects the strengthening of tolerance and unity in society. In conclusion, it was noted that the cultural and social influence of Islam in modern Kazakh society is important.
