Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between the use of information technologies and social media with the political activity of the youth of Kazakhstan. The study is based on the data from the analytical report “Youth of Kazakhstan” 2023, conducted by the methods of mass republican and expert surveys commissioned by the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The survey involved 2000 young people aged 18 to 35 from various regions of the country. Data analysis was performed using quantitative methods, including descriptive statistics and inferential analysis.
The results show that a significant portion of the youth actively uses social media to obtain political information and participate in political discussions. However, alongside the opportunities that information technologies provide for participation in political life, there are certain risks, such as the spread of misinformation and manipulation of public opinion. Based on the results of the study, recommendations were made to develop educational programs on media literacy and create platforms for the active participation of youth in political processes. The study emphasizes the need for further analysis of the impact of social media on the political activity of youth and the development of measures to minimize political risks.
