Today, the issue of cultural identity is more relevant and requires comprehensive analysis. As the world is changing under the influence of globalization, society is changing and undergoing changes. This topic of cultural identity is a multifaceted and multi-layered problem that requires detailed study. In particular, the growing interest of the younger generation in movies and media products in the context of modern media technologies conquering the world creates difficulties in preserving and promoting the uniqueness of their people, existence and the world, language and religion, language and history.
The relevance of this study will contribute to the preservation and development of national values and culture in the context of globalization. Identity creation is a concept that allows for the creation of a modern cultural society that requires a rethinking of traditional values and a new perception of them, but this process sometimes leads to the distortion or weakening of national identity.
The aim of this article is to reveal cultural identity in the context of Kazakh cinema development on the basis of the concept of «historical memory». To achieve the goal, the authors put forward the task of defining the image of cultural identity in Kazakh cinema through historical memory, cultural memory and historical trauma in postcolonial discourse. Further clarify the main role of film language in promoting uniqueness.
Scientific novelty - by posing the problems of historical memory renewal the cultural identity of Kazakh cinema is substantiated and the role of historical memory in the creation of identity is proved. The authors define the important place of cultural identity in Kazakh cinema, explaining its discursive nature, using cultural analysis, art history and cinematographic scientific methods in showing the image of cultural identity.
